    Default Radar Guns cause cancer!

A Canadian commission released a study a while back examining RADAR use effects on cops...

Not that I am a cop hater (I actually have a high level of respect for good cops), this is revenge for giving me tickets!

Actually, I wonder if I can sue for them hurting me by throwing radar waves at me!

Well... I'm not a man of pseudoscience and fear either, but I do have to point out that the effects of repeated/constant exposure to low-power microwave transmissions (such as radars, cellphones, wireless networks) are not really that well understood. While most studies have shown there's no link to cancer, there have been a few studies that found a link which could not be explained.

I don't think we'll answer this riddle this generation, or even the next. It'll take some time before we get the statistical data we need.

I've been wanting to be a cop for some time (More like "I wonder if my life would have been different if...)

Seems fun...racing down in a crown vic code 3...having a badge and never getting another speeding ticket in my life

I've never seen them mounted outside. It's pretty small and looks like the MPH BEE III pop gun. I'll try and grab a picture sometime.

I remember a few years back there was an unusual amount of LEO's coming down with cancer, especially testicular cancer and some people were blaming the radar units inside the car's for this problem. I say testicular because some officers had handheld units and when they were not using them they would lay them on their lap with the unit still on. For a short time there was a scare, before instant on became as popular as it was, that if officers drove around for 8 or 10 hours inside their car with their radar units on they were at risk. That is when you first started seeing the radar unit outside the car mounted on the roof. I am not sure how long this went on, but I have not seen it for quite a while. I guess there are still some units out there. It seems like the report was on 20/20 or some news show like that.

things like this should not be ignored. just because we can't devlop a science to prove something doesn't mean its harmless. cigarettes at first?

i wouldn't rule out a possibility of cancer developing after LONG term exposure to radar emissions.

    umm...instant on = radar dude..sorry to amaze you..lol

The only time u would get cancer is if you held the antenna directly in your face and stood there for months on end with it turned on, but if the antenna is facing out the front or on the roof then you will be ok.

oh vlou2173, cops still get speeding tickets m8, trust me i know this!
