Hey Everyone - I'm fresh to the forum, and thought I'd introduce myself. I JUST installed my first RD a couple hours ago in my 2005 Lancer Ralliart. As an avid driver, I've been wanting to get a RD for quite some time, and finally a deal came up that I couldn't refuse, so I bought one.
I just got a Whistler 1793SE, and installed it tonight, and then went for a cruise to commemorate the addition to my car. I wasn't doing anything too serious, and wasn't out very long. But the reason I wanted to post a new topic was this:
As I was returning into town, I was driving about 65 km/h in a 50 km/h zone (pretty normal for myself) when, as I came around the last corner into town, I got a K-band signal, 3 bars. It scared the crap out of me, and I had a knee-jerk reaction on the brake. I slowed to 50 in a quick hurry and thought "Bloody heck, a false already? What a peice of junk".
Much to my surprise, as I kept driving towards my house, I passed the gas station, where sure as hell, the LEO was hiding behind the Propane Cylinder, trying to catch speeders as they rolled through town. Just as soon as I'd said "Stupid false alarm" the RD jumped to 9 bars.
And THAT'S how my RD has already paid itself off!
