Sorry 4 HiJackin yr Thread...
This is a closer one of the RD over the mirror. It is a little hard to see the display here...I don't like taking my eyes off the road to see what it's saying. So I have the volume up and VOICE on.
By the way, I just mounted my V1 high about a week ago. So far its doing awesome on radar. However, i have no encountered any laser yet so I can't tell you how its doing on that. My car also has the bubble tint strip.
Oh, and I have been getting laser falses with this mount, so I think it may work for laser. Got one off a Toyota minivan (I assume it was laser adaptive cruise control on the van, since it was the only vehicle around) yesterday, and two other falses, including one that alerted for a good 7-8 seconds.
hmmm i wonder if there would ve an effect sence my whole front windshield is tinted.. and just a quick question i use to have a pro 73 it worked very well! now im deciding between a sti, v1, pro 78, and escort, i dont want to mount on the windshield cause of the tint and i know the sti has a moutable visor clip? so i think thats gonna be the best for me but i cant decide cause 3 of the 4 there are so similar in performance and everyone will try to encourage you to buy there favorite but whats trully different between the 3 Excluding the 78..
Everybody still think behind the "dots" is OK ? It sure doesn't sound right but im an amerature. My STI manual says to mount it away from "heavily tinted areas which might obstruct the radar antenna or laser lens" My dots in my dakota are actually small squares about 1mm each, like a checkerboard. Quite a dilemma.
It has not affected my laser reception at all.Originally Posted by kraked
Hmm... so 86% say "mount it high"...
I'm thinking about doing this with my x50. I'm getting tired of all this stuff hanging on my windshield, and hardwiring it up high will get it out of my view and clean up the wire clutter. It's good to know that the tint strip won't affect lidar detection, but I always thought you should mount low because that's where the cop will be shooting the laser at the car. Either way it doesn't matter because I don't see laser that often and they're so predictable as to where they use it that I usually slow down in those areas, anyway.
