Both detectors were tested so you can see the difference.

i am pretty surprised by the lidar tests on spectre. whistler seems to be very good at it.

That's probably due to manufacturing variance.

they are the same internals, only difference is design & features.

Pro 78 is not so hot on laser ask Veil Guy he will tell you.

I wouldn't get either of them if you want something good for the money get a Bel 940.

Not only that, Mike B told me that the XTR-690 and Pro-78 have both been tweaked since the GOL 2007 test, not even counting that major firmware update coming up, which some people here have beta versions of

The Pro-78 is also supposed to have some better filtering capabilities for false alerts. All I can truthfully say is that I really liked the Pro-73 which a forum member sent to me for repair. It needed a new speaker and had a stripped out hole for one of the case screws. During testing, I found that the Pro-73 performed very similarly to my V995. I was quite impressed!
