Default New Volvo radar-guided collision warning system

    Hello,

This is my first post on this site, but I have been looking around for a few months now.

I currently own an Escort Passport 7500s that has saved me numerous times. Thanks to this site though, I just purchased a V1 yesterday. I can't wait to get it!!

Anyways, I was reading in the paper today about the new Volvo "radar-guided collision warning system" that will allow ****ty drivers to be even ****tier without crashing!! yippiee!! Take THAT natural selection!!!

So what does this mean for RD users? Are we going to get falses everytime some half asleep asshole drives by in his freaking Volvo or what? I can only hope that this system uses X-Band cause the cops don't use it up here in Alberta.

Anyway, if anyone has heard anything about this, please share.

    adam

From the little research I was able to do, it looks like the system uses a k-band signal, so yes -- we will probably alert on every damn Volvo out there.

Women like them for some reason, apparently because they believe Volvo's hype that they somehow are safer cars. It seems to me that Volvo markets their vehicles based solely on perceived fears.

Volvos have always made safety their priority. I don't think its a hype.

With that aside, I'm surprised that car companies are not keeping RDs in mind. Some engineer had to of mentioned it. There are a LOT of RD users in the united states. Putting these K radars on their cars is not a good choice. People that don't own Volvos will be cursing them every time they see one on the street and someone who buys one will be pissed once they turn their RD on for the first time in their brand new Volvo.

Maybe instead of emitting radar, volvo should have a radar DETECTOR installed, that way the idiots slow down

This crash test was on UK TV this week but the site doesn't have video up yet, just pictures.

A big 15 year old Volvo Estate against a tiny little 3 year old Renault Modus

    Who's your money on?
