Default Inside your RD: Escort Solo S2 -- FCC ID QKLSM2

    Hi everyone,

Another of a series for all of the popular radar detector models. The original photos on the FCC web site were of very poor quality, but I did my best to improve their quality.

Interestingly, the bottom two photos are of the RF shielded daughter board which is installed atop the back end of the radar horn. I think it merely contains mixer electronics since I don't see how the local oscillators could be inside this assembly. Maybe Jimbonzzz will shed some light on this design.

Have fun posting your observations and comments regarding what you see!

    Best Regards,

    --Michael

    Super radardetector 's man

Otherwise , MEM-TEK could you talk about bel service not to filtrate some pulse radar signal like "ISAKA" K band radar types which can modify measurement software that transmits signal per 300ms! V1 && Whistler product have "pop2", "Pluse Protection" function that they have good response to that singal, Why belscort don't consider for more foreign customer

    ThX!!!!!

    Hi xtr325,

This is definitely a question for Jimbonzzz, the Professor. He understands the internal workings of radar detectors far better than I do.

The technical reason why this happens is because the signal isn't present long enough to trigger an alert in the BEL products due to their filtering algorithms. You can see this somewhat in Michael B's lab testing: http://www.radardetector.net/viewtopic.php?t=8259 and in the GOL tests V1 and Whistler models did the best on K-band POP.

I would guess the reason BEL uses heavier filtering than V1/Whistler is most likely because at some point they did a marketing study which indicated that false alerts was a big reason people might return their detectors.

It's a shame Escort doesn't update and improve the SOLO II or give us a corded version with better range. I really like that form factor.
