Is this supposed to mean instant on? I saw this on a sign at Circuit city about how Bell's detect, "pop, pulse, etc"
Instant on is truly a better name if you ask me.

Aren't some of the radars in Russia pulsed?
From what I understand, it is something different, but then again, I may be thinking of something else.
well, a pulse would be something intermitent where it went on and off (pulsating). that is why i think its instant on.
Detecting instant on is worthless anyway if u are taking the direct hit. Its basically like being hit with laser..........too late.
I always took that as IO.......
As i know , Russian radar only the "BERKUT" which made by olva jsc company has pluse function and the "ISKRA" radar made by Smicon has no pluse yet. But it can modify software which controls the transmition singal time to shoot radarwave every 300ms or XXXms , cause the belscort product no response ,because a heavily filtrate false alarm.
Like new traffic radar system called the "Police Eagle" III which makes up of "ISKRA" radar pipe, video analyse captured model ,controls the transmition model and a notebook pc. The radar didn't always transmit the singal until it detected one car pass through video system. And start ed to check the car speed quickly then stopped shooting radarwave. So it likes "instant on" but it won't human take after it.
Isn't the term "pulse" used by cobra or whistler?
It means IO
Yeah, this is meant to be the same as " Instant On "
This is just the term they use to market it.
like "instant on" and like "constant on" has some rules to transmit signal.
I think the older Whisters used to display a "P" for pulse, which was meant the signal abruptly stopped which was the same as IO.Originally Posted by asianfire
only sort of pulse radars I know of are military aircraft radars, then were getting into that more complex pulse-doppler stuff
