Default Kustom Signals Golden Eagle KA (35.5)

Here in Charlotte, NC they use Golden Eagle KA (35.5)
Does this device operate in Lo Power Mode?

I'm thinking that's why I am having such a hard time
sniffing out KA from a distance. Even if it's "IO", I
should get a bar or 2 of warning before it's my turn.

Hey, I've got one of those. It doesn't have any low power mode that I'm aware of. Aparently that freq. is just hard for RDs to pick up.

There are no radar units used in the US that allow output power to be adjusted by the operator in any way, so there's no "Low Power Mode" in any of them either.

Thanks Guys....... I'm just still trying to figure out
why the X50 seems to have issues with 35.5.
I just figured I would throw that one out there
to see if it was possible.

From what I understand, the original 8500 does much better than the X50 on 35.5, but the X50 does much better than the 8500 on 34.7. I know my SRX, which I understand to have the original 8500 as the radar detector part of the system, kills it on 35.5, but sucks on 34.7. If 35.5 is your main threat, maybe the 8500, or something else for that matter, would work better for you.

Unfortunately, the X50 rev 5 is not as good when it comes to off axis. The newer X50 with the M4 horn may do better. However, the rev 5 version has adequate range for the 35.5 when it comes to frontal approach.

I'd like to do a test with my rev 5 vs the newer M4 horn with 35.5. Anyone interested to send it in?

Although not adjustable, don't some models have lower output power than others? I understood that the typical 35.5 guns had shorter targeting range than the typical 34.7 guns due more to a difference in output power than anything else.

When we were playing around with my Golden Eagle and StlouisX50's X50, we noticed it wasn't picking it up that well. There was one time I was shooting constant-on about 1/4 mile from a curve. When he came around the curve, I easily had his speed and he got a warning like instant-on.

I have a Kustom Talon 2 (35.5) and will have a Bee 3 Ka with pop and plan on doing some real world tests in the spots I see the boys running radar. This will be in the west palm area of Florida, if interested PM me.
