Default New to detector/blocker need some help plz

Ok so I know how people are anoyed by new guys comming on forums and posting questions without researching... well I read Radar Roy's entire site and just read through ehh about 30 or 40 posts on here and got a overview of detectors and how they work. In saying that I am not quite sure whats the best, as most posts had different settups with success and not-so successful stories.

I am looking for the BEST (i just returned from Iraq and have some money but not unlimited so no 20,000 dollar settups please hah) combination of Radar detection/jamming and Laser detection/jamming with actual electronic sensors, surface coatings, and anything else that you can come up with.

I know this is broad but I am in hawaii and they ONLY use lasers out here so I never even though about looking into detectors as they were only going to let me know "Oh yah thats another ticket" but now that I know laser bockers/detectors exist it seems like when I move to the Florida Panhandle in a month that they could come in handy.

So give me your best ideas so I can order this and set it all up and see how it goes. 2 radar units seem to stand out in the Escort Passport 9500i Radar Detector and the Valentine One so lemme know how those work for yall as well.

Thanks a mil and I hope you dont mind helpin an young military kid out who speeds too much haha.

It sounds like you could get away with just a good Jammer 1st than add a RD lator. No KA there?

The 9500I is truly an awesome RD and probably the best to have as a combo with a laser Jammer. Especially in your area because laser is primarily used and you can lock out X & K falses.
I would do a 9500I & Laser Interceptor or the new escort Jammer that’s Cumming out.
The V1 is an awesome RD but because you’re going to get a Jammer the 9500I would be a better match for your area.

Are you driving a lot of city or highway driving? If city, I would prefer the 9500i, but if mostly highway, I would give the nod to the V1.

As a bonus, the V1 has the best laser detection, hands down. This can be a blessing and a curse, though. Even though you will know anytime you are shot with laser (if you're lucky, even when the guy ahead is tagged), you will also be alerted to the presence of every car that uses laser guided cruise control.

As far as laser jammers go, well, you can search in the laser section. I would reccommend, though, to go with a laser diode jammer (as opposed to LED jammers). The top three would be (in no particular order) LI, AL, LPP. Depending on the car you have, a 2 head or 4 head system might be recommended.

As far as radar jammers, they don't work. Period.

BTW, as said, for now, you could just get the laser jammer, and get the radar detector when you move to Florida. As an added bonus, whenever you are in Florida (and only in Florida) you can turn off X band is it can't be used to give tickets.

To give specifics on my driving info here it is...
I drive highway and street roads the same but all 7 of the tickets I have ever gotten were all highway.
My car is a 2005 Mustang GT so if that makes a difference for the laser systems as ELVATO you said it makes a difference for car type?

Also any info on the Florida Panhandle area or the DC, Maryland, VA area right near DC is where I am moving in june so that would help too

Car size has to do with how many heads you need to sufficient coverage. With smaller cars, one diode jammer head provides good enough protection for most cases. As always, though, if you have the money for a 4 head system, it's always advisable to go for that (2 heads in the front, 2 in the back.)

As I said before, X isn't used in Florida, so it's mostly K and Ka, with laser as a growing threat. As far as DC and VA, those are the only two places where radar detectors are illegal. Forum member StealthJamal has reported Spectres in use in Va, so you might want to consider a Bel Sti as an option for a radar detector. Aside from the fact that it's immune to radar detector detectors (RDDs), it also does very good against radar. As for Maryland, I'm not too sure, but you can check what has been reported in the Speed trap listing subforum further down.

As always, though, be mindful that laser and radar aren't the only ways to get your speed. Pacing, air and land VASCAR, cameras, and visual estimation are all valid ways to get your speed. So, watch you surroundings at all times.

Oh, and BTW, nice car

RD's are illegal in VA & DC so it looks like an STI may be the only choice for you.

    Wow..... 7 tickets.
A good Laser Jammer and Detector is
what you need... I'd recommend a Beltronics
    STI and an LI Jammer.

I'd go for a laser jammer now, and an STi when you move.

how does the STI stack up against the other types of radar detectors? like the Valentine or the newest Escort?
