With my snow day today I hardwired my detector with some black phone cord above the RVM and to be honest I love it.
I was wondering, how do most ensure that the detector is level? My eyes say it looks level from both inside and out and I took a big level and held it to the bottom and top and it appeared pretty level. Is that sufficient or are there other standards by which people test it?
Also, its placed behind a thin strip of blue tint which makes it invisible outside the car. The car is an old 1989 volvo so I really do not know it it contains metal. Any test for that? Hold a magnet to it?
On an unrelated note, I ran wires to my stereo unit while I had my dash torn apart and made my own ipod adapter and it runs out a preexisting hole in the glovebox.
I'll throw some pictures up later.
