Default rain x doesnt affect radar performance

someone asked if rain x affected radar performance.

well tonight i did the windscreen and went for a drive and it beeped on the same places it did before so on my test i can conclude i didnt see a performance decrease and so far as i can tell rain x doesnt affect radar detector performance.

and thats using a crap detector and there was no noticeable difference!

but it shouldnt affect anything as its just a non stick coating to the window!

it doesnt contain metal bits its clear liquid.

Correct. No metal, just stuff that makes the surface tension on the glass much higher, so water doesn't sheet.

I love Rain-X and use it on all of my cars. I've never seen any reduction in laser or radar detection because of it.

I use the Rain-X washer fluid. It works as well as the regular Rain-X, you don't have to apply it by hand (it gets applied when you use the washer), and it doesn't bugger up your wipers either.

I find with it on, I really don't have to use the wipers. Water beads up and the wind blows it right off the windsheild.

I would have to agree, who needs wipers with Rain-X on the windows. The only thing I don't like about it is that it appears to leave a film that can cause a bit of glare. This even after wiping it in for a long time to try to remove the film.

Ok i have been wanting to ask this question since we are talking about windsheilds.
Scratches: I have small scratches all over my windsheild.
    From the wiperblades.
I just bought this car a month ago used. 97 mazda 626.
It seems to me that my RD doesnt detect radar as far as it used to.
I could be wrong. but, could a dirty or scratched wind sheild
    affect the range on RD'S?
I have sat in my car down the road from the police station as they always leave thir radar guns on all the time. (KA-band) about 1/2 mile.
And i have gotten out of my car and pointed the RD at the police car
Holding it above my head, level with the car and down to the ground.
I got 3 bars on the rd. Down to the ground i got 1. of course.
Know this may seem strange or its just me but when i put the rd back on the mounting bracket behind the windsheild it went back to 2 bars.
I mount my RD above the wiper blades. btw

These all may seem like stupid question's but hey arnt we all here to test and get the best information possible. and the best advise?

    Sorry for the long post.

i know laser performance would be afected but i'm not sure about radar as radar can pass through painted plastic bumbers!

so i'm not 100% sure but i think it wouldnt affect it as radar would still pass through the glass.
