    Default Is this True?

check out what I found, I was looking for a GPS unit called: "Nextar" and found this:

NOTICE TO STATE OF CALIFORNIA DRIVERS:
    California Vehicle Code section 26708(a)
    (1) provides that "No person shall drive any motor vehicle with
any object or material placed, displayed, installed, affixed, or
applied upon the windshield or side or rear windows." Drivers
in California should not use the suction mount on
their windshield or side or rear windows.

If this is true, should we not be getting tickets for our detectors?

Yep. I've heard it's not that strongly enforced but still unless a CA native tells you otherwise I would not recommend windshield-affixed ANYTHING in the state.

You can use a levitating RD mount when traveling through CA legally.

Hang it on your windshield, risk a ticket.

California is simply the most psychotic excuse for a "state" in the whole country.

My old RD was visor mounted for just this reason. Now I have a remote RD, which is also totally legal, well, except for the laser jammer part. The rule isn't strictly enforced, however, cops will use this when they are looking for a reason to pull you over.

I also have an AT&T Tilt as my cell phone. This has Telenav installed on it. So, my phone is my GPS navigator and does not have to be dash mounted.

This subject has been covered pretty well on the GPS forum that I post on. it is definitely true about CA. Of course, all states have that "obstruction of view" law. The thing that I find funny is that depending on where you mount your GPSr, it can be more of a obstruction of view then if you mounted it high on the windshield.
