I'm tired of my RX65 falling off the windshield when the temerature drops. I've heard that Whistler suction cups are the best, but my question is will the Whistler suction cups fit on the Bel mounting bracket? Any input would be appreciated.

go to michael's arts and crafts store or equivalent and buy medium sized suction cups. they will work a lot better as they are stronger.
I haven't tried it, but Martha Stewart or some such happy homemaker type on tv recommended moistening those suction cups with vegetable oil as an alternative to gobbing on them.
My rx 65 comes off like a woman's brazier, one cup at a time, once in a while I'm gonna switch to velcro-ing it to my dash, above the speedo. Less visible to other motorists, like Leos, and more within my easy reach.

See MEM-TEK's link:

I made a complex plastic thing. The above is much easer.
Yeah, Memtek has a nice velcro set up there. Might try that when I get the courage to mount the rdd high up -- probably after I get a laser jammer, but right now seems a bad time to buy one.
the other way is to make sure the suction cups are in good condition (put them in hot water to get them back to new) once you stick them to your windshield pull down gently to create a good suction pocket between the window and the suction cup.
Most of the people here hate this solution. But the cold and suction cups were pissing me off and it's been great since.
-5 tonight and its working beautifully
i had the same problem with the suction cups i got with my rx65. i was planning on buying new ones then someone on this forum told me to instead run hot water (boiling almost) on the suction cups then put a bit of vaseline on them. I did that and was not able to take the suction cups off. They stuck to much. From not sticking at all to being stuck. I was surprised at the difference. Over time they became like normal where I can take them off if I want to. I've had my rd on my windshield for at least 4 months not if not 8 months without my rd falling off or even getting close. you don't need new suction cups, just fix up the old ones.
Maybe your winshield knows something you don't.......
Was it the vaseline comment that got your attention? lolOriginally Posted by davekr
Thanks for the suggestions everybody. I'll have to try the hot water one, and if that doesn't do the trick, I'll try looking for some bigger suction cups.
