I've seen a lot of posts indicating that slamming on the brakes during an IO or laser encounter when you are fairly sure that **YOU** are being targeted specifically is not a good idea because the LEO could see brake lights, the obvious nosedive etc. and assume you have a detector.
I can see why this would be problematic in places where detectors are illegal, but what about other states?
I ask because I usually get my speed down pretty quick regardless of it makes me look guilty or not. There have been times that for reasons God and the LEO only know, I was not stopped after a laser/IO attack and I feel that I should have been because I was going way over the PSL.
In those situations, I wonder if the LEO thought "this guy is slowing down, he's not worth citing".
The only two times I did get cited while using a detector, it didn't go off, so I was continuing along blissfully unaware that I was being clocked all the while.
I guess the point of this ramble is this: is slowing down quickly in these situations not always a bad idea? After all, you are "attempting" to right the wrong.
