Default So any theories on the 9500i's new status?

Sorry if I missed some explanations about why the 9500i suddenly did so well in the latest GOL test but I'm puzzled.

I know they only tested a single unit and the staton for one has said he's had difficulty squaring his real world experiences with the RD and the test results.

How come something on the X50 platform, with X50 sensitivity according to the Lab tests, did so well?

The 9500i seems to have always done fairly well in GOL tests. It's probably the specifics of the test (At what point the foamy gun's signal strength ramps into detectable zone) that made it appear identical to the top-sensitivity unit.

What is clear, however, is that the 9500i still has its fair share of issues (shortcomings, bugs, etc) and not everyone is happy with it, though many are quite satisfied. I hope Escort continues to improve the 9500i and we don't see them pitching a $599 10500i to overcome its flaws.

Word has it that Escort has made some improvements to the 9500i, although IMHO more testing is needed to form a more conclusive picture of the 9500i's performance.

Personally i think Escort put a new antenna in the 9500I. Thestation tested another 9500I off the record during the test, and it had the same performance as the one in GOL's test.
The real world has no control or foam, so results will be different plus the 9500I does a bit more than the average RD.

There's no new antenna. The actual antenna is the front portion of the cast aluminum housing that also serves as a cover for the RF boards. If they changed the antenna, they would have to get a new "grant of certification" from the FCC, which they have not.

It's hard to say, and the one we tested over the summer shocked me so much I immediately ran to best buy picked up another one, to see if it was a fluke.

It defiantly needs more testing, and I'd love to do it at highway speeds, bu there are just to many variables you can't control, and who in the hell wants to waste all that gas when it's 3 dollars a gallon.

One thing is for sure Escort listened to there customers and that gets mad respect.

Wait so you ran out and bought a $500+ radar detector that you already had, but you're worried about $3 gasoline?
