Just wondering if something someone told was true. Is the v1 so good because the makers of the Valentine also produce radar guns for leos and know what calibrations are used for guns. Is there any truth to this.

Neither of those statements is true. The V1 is so good because it is the most sensitive and because it provides the radar contacts general direction.
X2, it’s the specific features of a RD that make it good whether you’re looking for sensitivity, arrows, GPS or stealth.
Yeah, someone lied to you... not to mention the 'calibrations' of radar guns, simply refers to keeping them in-tune. Essentially, I think the person who misinformed you meant, that Valentine knows the (exact?) frequencies that the radar guns use... then again so does every RD company, not to mention most members on here.
The guns are 'calibrated' to keep them in-tune upon the correct/specified frequencies allotted to them by the (I believe)FCC for each band.
The V1 is great in detection, simply because it is very well designed and as said above is very sensitive... it is not the best detector, there isn't one, each person has his/her own opinions on which detector is the best.
Sounds like the person who told you is someone who wants to sound like a 'smart' person and like they have insider-information, when infact, they have little to no clue what they are talking about. Direct them to this website.
Now go buy one you will love it!!Originally Posted by mhardy2288

Exactly! The V1 is the best for me because it has what I need (I'm very much a tell me EVERYTHING and I'll sort it out person), however give that same V1 to the majority of my friends or relatives and you'll soon find it sitting on the side of the road somewhere. If I recommend an RD to someone I first ask what they hope for it to accomplish, how they drive and how and where they plan to use it.Originally Posted by AirMoore
