Default What detector is best for Photo Radar?

I am new to this forum. I was wondering if anyone knows what detector would be best for Photo Radar. I live in Canada where Photo Radar Vans are everywhere. I tried the X50 and Bell 995 together side by side and they both seem to give warning at about the same time. Usually right before you pass the Photo Radar Van. The band they use for Photo here is K. Thanks in advance...

I think valentine is the most sensetive, but if you live toward a city I would recommend the escort x50. And you can not run 2 radar detectors side by side! that is a big no no. They will interfere with eachothers detection abilities

Thank you all for your response..

The way I had the two radars setup for testing was, I had one on one side of the windshield and the other one on the other side. Would that give me a false reading on both? I also tested them individually and got pretty much the same results. From what I’ve experienced the two radar detectors seemed to have about the same range when it came to Photo Radar detection.

It is difficult to say how close two detectors need to be to interfere with each other, it probably depends on a lot of factors, such as the shielding in each individual detector etc.

In each detector, the first local oscillator is always in the microwave range, whick likely produces harmonics throughout all of the police radar bands. Even if one detector is shielded enough so that it doesn't cause alerts on the other detector, it likely raises the "noise floor" in different bands. And, since the detectors use singal averaging between multiple sweeps to identify a signal, raising the noise floor would have the effect of making it so that a stronger signal would be necessary for the detector to be able to pick out radar signals from the noise floor.

Even enclosing the detectors in metal isn't going to prevent this, since a lot of the leakage comes from the antenna.

It might be OK on some bands but not others, but there is no way to be sure when it is a problem and when it isn't. So really, the best rule of thumb is to not use two detectors in the same vehicle, just to be sure.

Where in Canada do they use photo radar?

I know Quebec had it first, for about 6 months during the oil crisis... they tried it in Ontario in the 90's and the goverment was thrown out... and BC had it for a while and it was killed off there too from mass public anger...

Yeah but it is very low power and it is angled across the road.
