Spectre vs vg2
Is spectre used alot in states that rds are legal...i know our local police use vg2 just to see if speeder has a rd but that is it because they are legal in florida.
Re: Spectre vs vg2
I believe detectors are illegal in commercial vehicles - truckers can't use them, for example. So, I think that is why some states use VG2/Spectre even though detector use may be legal for non-commercial motorists.

Alot of places that use them to crack down on detector use (Such as Virginia or Ontario) use the Spectre. The states that are just using it to be more selective on their targeting or see if commercial vehicles have them tend to use the VG2 since its cheaper.
Texas State Troopers like to run I/O (Instant-On) radar with RDDs. They'll wait until they find someone with a radar detector and then pop them.
Louisiana state police has, or at least had, VG-2s, probably for enforcing the truck RD ban.
I know this because the VG-2 I got on eBay has a Louisiana SP sticker on the bottom.
