Any household items that will set off the laser on my detector? Will a laser pointer set it off? I don't have one but they're cheap enough. Anything else?
Thanks.

Some remote controls will do it. Someone also said if one doesn't do it, try two at once. A Laser pointer won't do it.Originally Posted by computersoc

I tried one remote earlier and it didn't work... I'll try two or another.
Different buttons on the remote controls generate different flash patterns that the TV reads and interprets.
Thus, try different buttons on the remote control, as some buttons will created longer flash patterns that would be more likey to be read.
I've found that remotes that have a naked LED (clear looking "bulb") work better at setting off my V1 than remotes that have the dark "lens" on the end.
Also, it depends on your detector. V1s are easy to set off with a remote. RX65s are more difficult. Your best bet is to try different remotes, point them at the front of the detector from 1-2 feet away and see what happens.
One more thing, some remotes have buttons that fire continuously when you hold them down, and some only fire "once". Try using a volume up/down button, as those usually fire continuously.
If I'm passing you on the right, YOU are in the wrong lane!
If speed kills, how come I'm still alive?

NOKIA Mobile phone whilst sending via iR works, I have a video in the video section on it working.
Yes some nokia phone set off detectors. My old nokia always set it off. I had to turn the -****- phone off.
I tried three remotes and nothing. What about if I use the "beam" option on my PocketPC?
