Default need to get my friend a radar detector

ok so my friend finally has decided he needs a radar detector since he drove home with me for break and saw my V1 in action. He doesn't feel like spending the money for the V1 so i need to find a good cost to detection ratio. I was thinking of a pro 78 or one of the vector seris. I was wondering what type of vector if he gets one which should i get :?: :?:

I would recommend either the Pro-78 or a Vector V940 or V955. If you buddy is a young individual who frequently drives late at night, then I would highly recommend the Pro-78 since its "stay alert" feature could well save his life if he suddenly gets very tired behind the wheel.

The biggest difference between the V955 and V940 is that the V955 allows the user to disable X band if it is not used by local LEOs.

Does the v940 have city NoX mode?

Personally my experience with the BEL v995 I have there is no difference in City mode versus Highway

I would recommend the v955...Whistlers are nice just can't compare to BEL's budget detectors

    Spoiler: show

    Radar Detectors-V1 & BEL v995
    Laser Jammer-Laser Interceptor Quad
    GPS Camera Locator-Cheetah C100
    GPS Nav-Garmin nuvi w/Trapster
    CB Radio-Galaxy DX-949 w/Wilson 500

v940 does not have NoX mode.

I went with the V955 specifically for the NoX mode. Plus my daughters like it that it says Nox as they enjoyed those characters on Stargate SG-1.

I would recommend the Pro-78, but I am a Whistler zombie after my experience using a $30 Whistler as a backup a few years ago--and being saved from a Ka trap by it.

If he can afford a little more, I'd suggest an 8500x50. I love mine.
