Because it gives police the false sense that they have the upper hand on those of us determined to travel at a reasonable and prudent speed, and not at the rate the arbitrary numbers slapped on a signpost dictate.

And because StealthJamal keeps slapping the NMA around whenever they try to get the ban repealed.

simple answer: Insurance institute for highway safety, it doesn't help that their headquarters are located in VA.

And for some LAWLZ, here's what the IIHS has to say about speeding and RD's. http://www.iihs.org/research/qanda/speed_lawenf.html

It isn't that bad! I see more constant on which is a good thing. There are certain areas that need to watch out for, Emporia is one.

Been through Emporia numerous times. Even traveled Hwy. 58 (aka suicide hightway). I'd go that way to go from I-85 to Portsmouth. Is it still refered to as "suicide highway"? I remember there was a sign just before you got to Norfolk that said "Congratulations, you survived suicide highway"!
Outside Independence Hall when the Constitutional Convention of 1787 ended, Mrs. Powel of Philadelphia asked Benjamin Franklin, "Well, Doctor, what have we got, a republic or a monarchy?" With no hesitation whatsoever, Franklin responded, "A republic, if you can keep it."

I-81 and 95 suck a$$, especially during holiday and spring break weeks.

I went from DC to Richmond via I-95 this past labor day and there was a cop like every 10 miles.
