Multiple source tracking

Thinking about this, and how practical or usefull is it really, to be able to track more than one radar source at a time? Has it ever saved or helped someone so much that it absolutely should be considered for your next detector?

I'm now starting to sort through the bells/whistles and frills to ask myself, why? I know it would be neat to see it show one source, then another etc.

Is it more of a radar-fanatic fun feature to have?

Yes. Say you're driving through a known K false area (a door opener or something) and a LEO has C/O K running in that area. Unless you knew there were 2 threats then you would probably disregard that alert if you drove through there often and were familiar with the falses.

This is why the V1 bogey counter is so useful

Just today I was at an intersection with a BP station on the corner. It usually gives off 2 X band signals. But today I had three X band bogies and it was a few dots stronger (using a V1). Sure as nuts, a cop coming from the other side of the intersection had his lights on while trying to pull over a car. As he chased the guy driving through the intersection, my V1 showed full strength X band. I was like, ah, that explains it as I watched the cop tail this car's rear end and the car pull to the side of the road after leaving the intersection. I continued to drive off and saw my V1 switch to rear arrow as it locked onto the signal until 0.4 miles down the road. As I was driving away, I watched the V1 lose two of the bogies which both were coming from the automatic door of the BP station, but continued to be locked onto the cop's radar since it produced a stronger signal.

Can't be happier with my V1. However, a bit sad to learn that Raleigh police still use X band. I thought they used only Ka band and cops outside Raleigh used X band. Hence, have to keep X band on in and out of Raleigh.

X2, and my favorite is when my RD verbally says "multiple infrequences detected" it definitely gets my attention. But to be a fanatic is also key.

I think it's a pointless feature for a driver only partially involved in speeding. Not likely such a person would track bogeys regularly enough to spot the irregularity.

However; I use it all the time and observed it twice. These are not saves, just detection on surface streets where I stay at the PSL.

5 bogeys in a 4 bogey spot. The 5th is LCPD shooting IO at the edge of the zone.

Verdict: Bogey counters are useful if you track falses regularly. Whether or not that's a quality investment depends on how fast you drive and where. I think, if you're a 5-10 over PSL driver it's not necessary, but for 20-? it is.

Depends on the user, it can be usefull, I had come accross a construction staging area full of K band drones, but thats not really the the good part, I then got a Ka bogey ahead in addition to the K. I pass the K, tracking the Ka increasing threat ahead, but then I get another Ka, now there are 2 Ka ahead... WOW... so I pass the first trooper shooting Ka, and normally I would have stepped on it BUT I still had another Ka increasing threat ahead while the first Ka was fading to the rear, sure enough another trooper ahead.

The shyt works!

Is it absolutley necessary, no, I would have known something was fishy with my Bel 985, because the Ka stregth would have continued to stay strong, warning of an immediate existing threat still in the area.

Bottom line the more info you have the less you have to guess.

great feature to have

times it will actually save you, probably rare

but why leave it up to chance? the one time you get nailed, you dont wanna be saying, "boy, i sure wish i had that feature..."

Indeed, however, in my case I enjoy the bogey added tone as it gets my attention.

Bogey count is EXTREMELY useful. The Valentine One, for example, will indicate the number of signals (threats) with a Bogey Count and a Bogey Lock Tone.

Say you travel a typical route where in one area you get 1 Count and 1 Bogey Lock Tone and now you get 2 Counts and 2 Bogey Lock Tones. Most likely a real threat is lurking.

Multiple bogey tracking is very important. I've had it come in handy on the highway before. There is a drone that the V1 picks up for nearly 2 miles (my Pro-78 even sees it for a mile and a half) on K-band.

This time, when driving up to it, I got the DEE-DEE and the V1 reported to a 2nd K-band bogey, both to the front. I started getting suspicious.

After passing the drone, the rear arrow was flashing but the front arrow was still lit up. I kept at the PSL and continued to monitor the median and oncoming traffic.

Sure enough, about 30s later, when I still was detecting 1 bogey to the rear, I saw a cop using moving K-band from oncoming.


Now, with a detector that doesn't track multiple same-band bogeys, this scenario could've been a nasty surprise. Multiple bogey tracking is not a useless feature at all. Stories similar to this are all in the V1 success stories section. I first thought they were makign it up, but as I use the V1 more and more, I find those stories much more plausible.
