    Default Need The BEST Radar

I am sick of getting tickets! I just got 5 within not even 2 months, and all checked my plates and had nothing on me so gave me tickets for stupid things like "not stopping" or "no turn signal" maybe i should just carry a camera . I just need a radar that will detect those bastards. I like in chicago so something that will not be going off every second cause of all the stores and false alarms. Something in the $600 range

V1 is going to have the best performance. Anything more will just have nicer features like a hidden install. With the extra money you could get something to protect yourself from laser.

btw, it will only detect them when they are using their radars. Around me I only get an alert to about 50% of them. The other 50% I see just cruising around, who could catch me doing something stupid.

I don't own one, but alot of 9500i owners are happy with their purchases. It has a GPS based lockout feature for areas with false alarms. Im sure some 9500i owners will chime in here to tell you more.

But if you don't feel like spending 400 bucks, just go with the Passport X50. A good reliable, simple detector.

Have you ever had a radar detector before?
Were you using anything during the 2 months that you received your 5 tickets?
Were you speeding and this is what got their attention?

Even with a radar detector, you need to modify your driving habits or you will continue to receive tickets.

If money is no object and you have a ton of X and K band door openers in Chicago you may wish to consider the 9500i. Check the Escort thread and ask if anyone had feedback about the 9500i in Chicago

The V1 is a very good detector but it may be a bit chatty in Chicago. Check the V1 thread and ask if anyone has feedback about the V1 in Chicago

The Bel's are very good but the door openers and X band alarm systems may cause may alerts. Check the Bel thread and ask is anyone has feedback about the Vectors or Pro65 in Chicago

The Whistler Pro78 and XTR-690 may also be a good choice. Again, check the Whistler thread and ask if anyone has feedback about the Pro78 or XTR-690 in Chicago

There is lots to read but you may not find the specific information as it relates to use in Chicago.

This is why it may be easier for you to put the questions point blank in each of the branded threads

Well then I guess the Sky is the limit, unless you want a concealed unit.

Something tells me a RD won't help you at all here. A RD is not a cop detector, it only picks up cops with their radars on. If you live in a big city like Chicago I would say that would be about 5% of the time.
