    Default 2 Ka alerts?

So I'm driving home from work tonight and X50 starts beeping Ka. Fist let me say pretty good alert I guess - he was coming at me in the other direction and from the other side of a pretty big hill I couldn't see over at all. (They sit and wait in this spot a lot b/c of the hill) I got probably a 3/4 mile alert which is pretty good I would say for a hill like that and both of us coming at each other at 50 MPH.

Strange thing is I have the multiple threat mode on, and I see 2 Ka signals. Both are pretty much pegged by the time he crests the hill. At first I'm thinking maybe there's two LEO's, but he turns off the road and I see one KA signal abruptly drop off, then the second one drops off about 2 seconds later. Was this a patrol car with front and rear guns? How do they monitor front and back simultaneously or is something else going on. I am 100% they both had to be coming from him b/c when he turned they both fell away although again one stayed a few seconds longer before going away. Just curious. Thanks!

The X50 commonly shows 2 Ka signals for 35.5 Ghz guns like the Kustom Golden Eagle or Decatur Genesis II. It's some sort of ghosting or something that causes it.

    Mine does the same thing.

What rev. X50 do you have?
If I'm passing you on the right, YOU are in the wrong lane!

If speed kills, how come I'm still alive?

x2, Many states are switching to dual antenna set-ups. NYSTroopers have had them for years.

Also some people claim a ghosting issue on 35.5 with the X50, though I have never had a confirmed case of this (as far as I can remember right now) with my Rev. 5, I don't doubt that it has happened to people though.

    I bought it in Jan from BB. I think it's a 6.1.

You're on the dot and I can prove it over and over again. But I'm not really sure if this happens to the decaturs just because it is using the 35.5 frequency. I think it's because I have not tested it with decaturs.

The X50 will never show double bogey with any dual antenna set ups and I can prove it very easily. My X50 rev 5 will show double bogey including the 9500i in expert mode ( I'd go as far as saying all X50 and 9500i does this ) when it encounters the 35.5 kustom golden eagle. I will try using the Kustom Talon ll this week or weekend if I get some spare time and video it.

I'm with Azone. My X50 (rev. 5) shows 2 bogeys every time with the Kustom units unless they are a single antenna unit. My 9500 however, does not. It shows one. Also if you run the X50 in spec mode, it will show 35.5*** then shift to 33.6*** and back to 35.5***. It's a quirk of the X50's and some 9500's.

KaPro, the test I did was using only one antenna from the Kustom GE and it still showed double bogey. When I did the test with the 9500i at first, it did not give a double bogey but after more test, the 9500i did show double bogey. One thing that happened during the test too is that, it also ghosted a K band alert in expert mode. I've pointed this out in my review of the 9500i in the escort section. The reason I say that the X50 and 9500i will do this because the technology used in expert mode is the same in both platforms- 2 Ka sources with same frequency or 2 K band sources with same frequency will only show 1 bogey. That's why the 9500i has problems separating 2 sources with the same frequency when it comes to locking out a K band false source from a police radar source with the same frequency.

My Genesis II does that to my X50. I have never really came up with an answer myself. Ghosting sound about right though

I think ghosting is the major problem......beams tend to bounce off objects and reflect back as a different bogey..
