Driving to work today on a state highway I got a brief Ka alert as a group of cars passed by on the other side of the road. I assume it was a cobra or something, but I slow down anyways. I had never seen LEOs in this area use I/O before so I didn't think that it was a threat so a mile later, I'm back up to my original speed (stupid). As I crested a hill, I got blasted by ka and see the LEO on the shoulder running his rear antenna about .5 mile away. I have nowhere to go so I drop my speed at the PSL of 55 and hope for the best. He does not turn the radar off the entire time it takes to approach him, and as I drive by, he appeared to by looking into my car. However after I pass him he does not pursue.
I drove by a few more times, and never did he keep the radar on for more than a few seconds, maybe even less. I assumed that when he kept it on as I drove past the first time was because he intended to pull me over.
I can only speculate that he got my speed but also noticed that I slowed down very quickly as soon as he turned his antenna on. So he probably thought that I had a RD, which was what he was looking for as I drove by. When he didn't see one on my windshield he just let me go, even though I was going 70 or so in a 55 (no traffic). So, would this count as a save by hardwiring over the RVM? Its close to impossible to see from the outside, even when looking for it.
By the way it was Ka 35.5 but he was running a rear antenna. I thought only Stalker 34.7 had dual antennas?
