from roy's website, "Laser Jammers and Radar Jammers are illegal in the states of Nebraska, Minnesota, Utah, California, Oklahoma, Virginia and Washington DC. The use of a radar detector in a passenger vehicle is legal in all states with the exception of Virginia, Washington DC. and on military bases. "

I live 30 minutes from New Orleans and Mardi Gras happens one time every year so everything is legal here. Radar detectors and laser jammers are legal in New Orleans and all of Louisiana.

If you travel on the 24 mile long Causeway bridge, the cops only use Ka band. If you pick up K band, it is from the 3 or so speed signs that are located in the middle and on the New Orleans end of the Causeway bridge. Causeway cops will usually be located about every 3-4 miles at a turnaround.

Laser is extremely rare because Louisiana is ranked about 50th in everything so there is not money lying around to purchase laser guns. I have only seen K band and Ka band used in the New Orleans area and I have never seen X band in use.

State troopers use almost 100% Ka band and local cops and sherrifs will use K and Ka.

Radar detectors are very legal in Louisiana . The only people who will 'confiscate' them are of the lower-classes. Laser Jammers are also legal as well, but that is probably due to a lack of laser being in use.

Living in Jefferson/Luling/Kenner/Metairie, I have yet to come across a single cop with K band radar. Every po-po in the area has been Ka, be it city, parish, or state fuzz; however, there is a St. Charles Parish cop that likes to shoot laser on I-310 from time to time, so laser is actually a threat albeit a rare one.

    Woo-woo!
