    Default Power cords

Are the power cords from the different detectors swappable? Would a V1 power cord work on a STi Driver?

I'm about to purchase a V1 for my other vehicle. I currently have an STi Driver hardwired in one of them. I'm am wondering if I will be able to swap the RD's in and out of each vehicle leaving the hard wired cords.

    Thanks..

Yes. You can use the V1's cord to power up your Bel/Escort units. Naturally, you won't have the mute button on the lighter socket though.

You can also use Belscort cords to power a V1, but you'll lose the ability to switch between modes (A, L, l) on the V1.

Lose the ability to switch between modes? You mean from the power cord itself right? You could still do it from the control knob, no?

You won't be able to switch modes from the detector. The wiring of the Bel cord will power up the V1 and let it work, but won't allow you to change modes using the V1's control knob.

OK, thanks for the heads up. That seems illogical since the RD has power but I'll take your word.

I guess the different modes need a secondary power source or something. ? Maybe a wiring loop?

I was hoping to avoid double hard wires in each vehicle. I may need to rethink this and opt for another STi instead. I was looking forward to trying out the V1.

He is correct though. I always swap my cords between Belscort and the V1.

Yeah, that would be out of the question because the cigarette lighter plugs drive me crazy. I like to use the hardwires when possible.

The wiring for the Bel/Escort "Smartcord" remote mute holds the V1's Mute/Mode line high all the time, preventing it from being able to change modes. It also might not be all that good for the V1...
