Default Will mounting RD on tint strip causes tint to pull loose?

First let me start of by saying hi and thanks for all the great information I found in this forum.

I recently purchased a Whistler Pro 73 and I have a question about mounting it on my window tint. I own a 2005 Chevy Tahoe and it came without a tint band accross the top windshield, just those black dots around the rear view mirror. Last week I went to a professional tint shop and had them but a tint strip accross the top. I want to mount my Pro-73 just to the left of the RV mirror and the dots. Will mounting a RD with the suction cups causes the tint to come loose from the window?

I would love to mount it behind the dots but I read in the forum it might causes problems. Any info would be grateful on the tint and the black dots.

    Thanks
    Dan

I don’t know about the dots BUT I WON'T mount your radar detector there it will weaken the strength and with the kind of radar detector you have that is even worse. I’m telling you cheap radar detector are not worth it. Take it back and save your money on a good one TRUST me on this one I have had prior experiences with cheap ones. If it was done right I don’t believe it would strip off don’t quote me on that I will ask some people when I go back to work.

The Whistler Pro 73 is a very good radar detector considering the price:

I am getting my WRX limo tinted at the top of the windshield which is where my V1 is mounted with suction cups. I am not worried about it damaging the tint in any way because it comes with a lifetime warranty against peeling, bubbles, etc.

I wouldn't mount it behind the black dots you speak of but I would mount it on tint because it won't affect radar detection as long as the tint is not metallic.

Thanks for some of the info. I've had the Pro-73 for two weeks now and it has done an amazing job of detecting radar from a long distance away. I have it set to City 2 and I very seldom get false hits like my old uniden RD. I wish I had the cash to by a higher end RD but I'm very pleased with the Pro-73.

Yes the tint is life time so I will mount it away from the dot pattern.

WOW, I didn't think I would get slamed when I said I bought a pro-73. Right now I'm on a budget and I needed something that was good under $200. I went by Roys reveiw and thats why I bought the 73. I don't live in a big city and the police here mainly use K-Band equipment. I know the V1, Bel65 and the X50 are top of the line RD's but not everyone can just fork over $300+ dollars. Later on down the road I will probably upgrade. Thanks to those who answered my question on the tint band.

LOL we didn’t mean to bash you were just telling you ahead. I don’t live in the city either so we both need better detectors simply because we have to drive more to get to one place.
