Instant-on can make the detector false on POP, especially in K-Band. It also seems to happen with Ka constant on when the signal is still a long ways off.

I thought you might get a kick out of that comment.

The POP false on the instant-on K band has only happened once.

My X50 used to false like heck on POP. Maybe I just had a defective unit who knows.

my old one did, but then when I got the one with blue display it doesnt false at all anymore. The only time it goes off is when there are cops up ahead. I think escort finally fixed their pop and intagrated it without going public

I have a new X50 POP, and its going off very frequently.

Dont know why....dont see any cops...but there is nothing more annoying that flying down the fwy and having that stupid pop go off!!!!

I dont even know if IL has POP!!!

Yeah I know what you mean. Mine would go off SO OFTEN that it was laughable. I thought to myself "they call this POP protection"? If possible try the RX65 or the V1. Ebay your X50 ($200) then buy the RX65. If money is not an issue go with the V1. Either choice is a winner

    pemarsh,

(and anyone else who may be so inclined) take your RD, when you get an alert (if you're in a SAFE LOCATION to stop) hold it in your hand and scan the area where you are getting the alert. Use it like a fish finder to zero in on the source. You may be surprised by what you find.

Seriously, this has been a way for me to identify "FALSE" sources and then I can commit that location to memory to be on the look-out for changes (such as - if I go by a location today and I'm used to it alerting on K, but it suddenly alerts to Ka) or even multiple bogies.

Don't assume any alert is a "FALSE" alert. It could be the difference between a ticket or no ticket.
