I'd take the 9500i any day, it depends on your driving habits

RX-65 is a very good radar detector. However the 9500i features the same M4 detection platform, but the 9500i platform is mounted upside down such that the 9500i platform gains additional benefit of detecting additional radar scatter which bounces off of your car's hood. Aside from this, there are other tweaks which have been applied by Escort for the 9500i too.

Thus, VG radar performance is obtained with the RX-65, and somewhat superb radar performance is obtained with the 9500i.
