Default Question for Roy and Admins

I have a question? Roy; as a authorized dealer, what do you have to say about the reliability of the bel rd's and all the discussions about the calibration errors etc.. Have you spoken to Bel upper management about these comments?

I purchased a RX65 from you that had these problems out of the box. You did extremely right by me and I have no complaints only praise for your handling of the situation. (for those of you wondering order from Roy !!)

But now I'm wondering how long before this one acts up? I don't want to have a hassle in a year down the road.

    Thanks for your feed back.

My friends escort 8500 not x50 is about 2 years old now. His will self calibrate atleast 3 times a day. I've owned both the rx65 (3 months) and the x50 (6 months) and neither of them ever self calibrated on me.

Good question though to see if others are having the problem.

I agree, VERY good question. I personally have owned serveral older Bel models, 735i, 820i and 835 and all of these have been great. I currently own the X50 and i've had it for about 8 months and i'm very happy with it. None of these have ever had the sel cal or had anything go wrong with them, however I have heard of several people's detectors going bad.

And just to let everyone know, I let mine sit on my windsheild 24/7. I never take it down.

    Default Cal problems

When both the Escort and Bel came out there was this issue.

They immediatelly isolated the problem on the Escort and the problem was fixed after about the 1st month.

The RX65 took a little longer.

It appears here that they FINALLY got this problem resolved earlier this summer. In the last four months we have only received 4 returns on the Bels for exchange.

In the begining it was 4 a week

If they just got it fixed earlier this summer, does that mean that if you baught your detector before that, you may have a problem?

My X50 is a rev. 3 and it's self calibrated 2 times. 1 time it didn't come out of self cal mode. Other then that the X50 is great.

Personally I would only buy my counter measures from an authorized dealer.....I am lucky that my detector which i brought from an un-licenced dealer still works
