I have a V1 and an (old) x50 (with laser turned off due chronic laser falsing and no help from Escort). From using them alternately along the same route day after day the V1 is better, but the x50 is adequate (and cheaper).

STI or 9500i are the 2 choices, you'll get the same performance on both of them but if you don't need stealth capabilities then 9500i is the best choice imo because you have those extra gps features. But i love my sti, it has amazing performance and I wouldn't choose any other detector except the 9500ci or STI-r.
