I actually moved my v1, lower because i realize i lost rear detection. the v1 is half above the tint stipa and half lower of the tint stip. Didnt have the time to test it, but i got my rear detection back.

I don't think the tint strip will affect anything but LIDAR performance.
Are you mounting it higher when you get more dots?
when i mount it below the tint stripi get less dots, but when i move it alittle higher and mounted behind the tint strip, i get more dots, but all in all i get the same range.
Try driving toward the door openers a bit slower to see if you really might be getting just a bit more range with the V1 mounted higher and behind the tint strip. It could be that your V1, higher and behind the tint strip, is picking up slightly stronger reflections off of your car's hood. The other thing to consider is that door opener radar is polarized and that there could be points on your car's hood, especially if your car's hood features ridges running front to back, which could be reflecting and twisting the polarized radar to produce an apparent increase in the V1's sensitivity.
The thing though is, if this really high mounting position seems to produce a stronger signal strength against polarized door opener radar, then it should produce a somewhat stronger signal strength and slight increase in range against the circularly polarized radar from police radar guns. Give it a shot and let us know what you think!
ok i will try to do that.
What door opener is good for testing V1's mounting position? My V1 always ghosts at the mall and it's next to impossible to do testing.
