    Default What One...I cant decide...

Ok, I am looking at upgrading my trusty old BEL 880 and cant seem to decide what one to get.. I have found the 880 is great for detection range but a little high on the false alert side of things... I was looking at the Bel 995, 965, RX65 or the Escort X50, I wanna spend under $300 but am not sure what to get. Are the new range of detectors much better than my 880, is the range better? less falsing??

So far I have used a Bel 720, Bel Vector STI and the 880...

I do a lot of freeway driving and surburban streets..during winter i do alot of driving to the snowfields on country roads for around 3 hours each way, In an area I know the Spectre 2/3 is being used a fair bit.

Are the Bel detectors upgradable if say a new technology is introduced to defeat the spectre RDD?? will Bel implement this?? I know thy havnt released and upgrades to us in the past.

I would appreciate any suggestions you have...
Ill continue to read here and gather as much info as I can..

    Thank you

    Stalker

    What's up Stalker,

I've visited Bel's website and found that they state upgrades will be provided for certain RD's like the RX65, should any upgrades come about during the warranty period. They also provide an extended warranty for a small fee of course, so you can have as much as 3 years waranty coverage.

As far as getting a good deal, pricewise, talk to RadarRoy. I'm sure he'll be very glad to assist you.

No, Roy is a bit further out west. Check his website and contact him directly. I'm sure he can set something up with you.

I tend to agree. I've looked around and his prices are better than most. I only say this because, as a visitor, you might be inclined to walk into one of what I call the "big angry consumer giant" stores. That worked for me, but only because I happened to find my girlfriend's Cobra on closeout. (They made me fight for it, though.) But the list price would have been something like $50 more than what Roy sells them for. (And that's nearly twice what I actually paid.) Just something to consider...convenience costs.

I've never used a 995. But I'm ordering a RX65 today. Recommendation: do a comparison check of the 995 and the RX65. See what features you like and what meets your needs for where you are and your driving style. I don't think you'd go wrong with either one.

yeah...i think i will def go for the 995, I would like to get one off roy as he has provided soo much info on here for us.

The only problem being i will only be in LA for 4 mights then off to Vancouver for 3 weeks...so getting one might be a problem... I have seen them on the net from $219 to $299 so alot of variations there.

Could it be shipped to a hotel? There was someone on a different thread talking about ordering a detector that would be waiting for him when he arrived. (I think he was talking about a V1, but I can't really remember.)
