rx65 according to gol

I was just looking over at the gol test, and in 2006 the rx65 was neck to neck with the v1.

also in the march 2007 the rx65 was pretty close to the v1

but in august 2007 rx65 no where near the v1, why is that, how come the last two test the rx65 was so close to the v1, but when it came to august 2007 test the v1 is way better then the rx65.

I'd like an answer to this as well. To my knowledge(which could be wrong), the main fixes for the V1 firmware in this time frame were for the bogey counter ghosting.

Anyone have an answer?

In the Oct. 2006 test, when the RX-65 did well (close to V1) it was run in USA Mode. When it was put into INTL mode, it didn't perform as well.

USA Mode on the RX-65 only sweeps the main Ka frequencies used in the USA (nstead of the entire Ka band) which gives it a sensitivity boost. However, some people are hesitant about using that mode since it could technically miss some out-of-tune radar guns.

In subsequent GOL tests, the RX-65 was tested in INTL mode (except where noted), in order to compare it on a level playing field to the other detectors which do not have a similar feature.

I think this is the main reason for the differences.

I thought it was ran in USA mode. Could I suggest maybe for this next GOL testing, that USA mode be used for at least one KA run on each band on the RX-65? I've never had a problem with KA alerting with mine in USA mode and Im sure no one else has.

I like GOL tests, but it doesn't make sense to not test a unit to its full abilities.

The RX65 does not ship in USA mode it ships in international mode for a reason.

In that case the x50, 9500i etc and so forth should be run in Auto mode as thats how they ship. No more highway mode

Only the V1 gets big A mode because it ships that way hehe

I think the reason is, is that it was sold internationally??? Until recently(with the 6.4 euro edition), all rx-65s were the same everywhere around the world. Im pretty sure someone in europe would be pissed if their new radar detector came with USA mode enabled as opposed to international.

Just a thought.
