Default Got a ticket from a aircraft !!!!

Coming home from Kansas City (Worlds of Fun) on 35 North in Missouri and was crusing along at 80 mph in a 70 zone when I looked up and saw a state patrolman pull in behind me then the dreaded lights went on pulled over and looked down the road and saw a couple more cars stopped all the while my Bel RX 65 sat there with the bright HIGHWAY lit up just as quit as could be When he walked up he said they had a aircraft up and they had got me at 80 and I was getting a summons (he probally wanted to laugh as my detector sat there all nice and peaceful) well my wife was mad and it cost me $80 bucks
BUT >>>>>>>>> my question is what is the best way to protect from a airplane no amount of veil/laser jammers /detectors/ or anything else will help against a plane

Do I need a old fashioned C.B radio and ask for help from the truckers or how bout a police scanner/radio or something to pick up airplane communications ?????
I gun shy about speeding now
    HELP ME !!!!!!!!!!!!!

CB radio and/or police scanner may have helped prevent the ticket. If your state still uses mobile extenders then the Uniden BCT-8 or the Radioshack equivalent may have given a highway patrol alert. Visit the other countermeasures forum here for more information.

    Lead foot,

Sorry to hear about your misfortune.

To paraphrase Craig Peterson (someone who has a little experience in this field) - the best detector with which to drive is your eyes and mind.

On clear days and on extended highway travels - especially on ones painted with nice big white lines - be vigilent in your observation of your surroundings and that means look skyward now and again.

Radar detectors, as well as additional countermeasures, such as VEIL, are just only tools in your defense arsenal.

Another highly recommended tool, IMO, is a somewhat dated, but still very practical book entitled:

Fast Driving (Without Tickets) (also by Peterson). It should be on any serious driver's short list of must reads - extremely informational and entertaining. It is replete with sage advice and answers to questions like yours.

now you know why mike valentine likes convertibles!

as he must be looking for speed trap aircraft.

its pretty rare if they use that over here, its too expensive to have a chopper out.

roadside laser is best for them!

Detectors, Veil, jammers, CBs and scanners are tools used to avoid getting tickets.

    So are sunroofs.

With how much it costs to run a plane over for speeders, they will take any violation they can get.

Thanks for the warning... I have been driving that section of interstate quite a bit the last 6 months or so(about once a month these days). I have been lasered a few times from an overpass on I-435 North, but just plain old instant on radar on I-35. I will be watching the skies much more closely now. Sorry for your misfortune.

    Drive safe, have fun,

Not sure if this was said, but most of the time you will see a long white painted line that runs across the highway. This is one tale. The other is to keep your eyes looking up also. I've gotten a ticket by aircraft once here in Wichita and it was around 10 years ago. Another tip that I use is to slow down when you're getting close to the city. These aircraft traps are always around the city or just barely outside of it. My personal advice for ticket free driving which has worked for me is: 1 have a rabbit 2 have a good detector and 3 dont speed inside the city limits. Sorry for your misfortane, but im sure your bel has saved you from a lot more tickets.

I have heard that if you contest an aircraft citation both the aircraft patrolmen and the ground patrolmen have to appear in court or the citation is dismissed.
Delay it as long as you can. Try and make time forget.

Could be different in other states but in Indiana, only the officer writing the report has to appear, which is normally the officer in the aircraft or the one operation a ground based radar.
