    Default Best detector for $300

Currently have a Beltronics Vector 995. Works fine so far but am wondering if there is anything better out there for the money. Would a Passport 8500 X50 be a big improvement or not? From what I understand the RX65 has the same range performance just better features, which I don't care about. I just want long range.

The simple answer is no. The x50 and Bel Vectors have the same platform.

tbh i think the x50 looks a hell of a lot better then any vector series. better looks + same range and performance = why not?

Because he wlreay owns a 995, doesn't make sense to get the x50 because of looks.

So basically I already have top of the line? I guess that's all I wanted to know. Oh...and I like the "looks" of my Vector 995 better than the diagonal 8500 X50 anyway....

You don't have top of the line but unless you want to spend 400 on a v1 (Most Range) or 450 on a 9500i (Not quite as sensitive but super quiet) you have a good detector but certainly not the best.

V1, STi, 9500i are the top 3 (excluding the remote installs)
