Default Hardwiring RD void a manufacturer's electrical system warranty?

Is this typically the case if it is not done by the dealership?

I think I know the answer, just wanted a second (or third or fourth) opinion. I bought a new car last week.

Simple use an add a fuse, if you have any problems, unplug it and take the detector down, there will no signs of cutting or splicing.

My local Honda dealership said it does void it. Thats why I used an Add-a-Circuit:

If you start cutting and splicing the car's wiring, then yes you will void the warranty. But, if you use 'add-a-circuit' or 'add-a-fuse' you will be able to hardwire your RD and still have your car's warranty.

They pretty much got it and I'm sure you know but besure to get an inline fuse to protect the detector.
