Default Laser Alert on Navy Base?

Any ideas of things that would set off a Laser alert on a Naval Base? I had one this AM when I was pull in. I backed up and approached the same direction again but couldnt replicate it. There are a few battleships in the harbor now. Perhaps they send off some sort of signal that would do so? Any other ideas?

I found this regarding falses with the X50 around Military areas. Same issue?

First off you should not be using your detector on a military base, at least near me they would be likely to catch you. They often have radar traps on base and it can be very obvious who has a detector. About the alert there are many things that could have set it off if there were ships near, modern navy ships have a plethera of laser based systems some of them even use laser range finders much like those used to calculate speed by police. Chances are you got an alert from sun glare or some other natural source, but if it was from it a ship it was likely from some form of targeting or detection system.

I've never heard it was against base rules. I go through different security gates several times a day. Even when it was dash mounted I was never asked to remove it. Maybe they don't care here? Why would it matter?

My first thought was sun glare, but it was early and the sun was too low to even be in sight. Doubtful that the sun caused this one. It is my 2nd Laser alert on base this month with the 9500i. Never noticed one with the X50.

RD's are definitely illegal to use on Military bases.

thansk roy. I actually found this earlier regarding my state laws.
I just wondered what the reason was? Maybe they're more leanient here?
I've used RD's for years on base without ever being asked to take it down.

Wouldn't chance it again, hate to have you lose the detector and get a citation...

true. it doesnt take much effort to remove it, and I never travel over 15-20mph max on base. What is the reasoning for it being illegal? To discourage speeding, or is there an interference issue?
