    Default hardwiring

I was looking to hard-wire my X50 myself with just a regular telephone wire. Can anyone give me brief instructions on how I would go about doing this? Also, I have seen the hardwire kits from escort, and they have a fuse that comes "built in." If i connect it directly to a wire running through the inside of my car, wouldn't it still be save because of the fuse that the car's electrical parts already have incorporated?

technically, yes, but if there's a short between your power tap and the RD, you're toast. You should always fuse between your power tap and your device.

Yes, you definitely want to put a fuse in line with the hot side on the cord to the detector itself. The fuse in line with whatever line you tap into may be too large of a value to protect your detector too so this will ensure you have the right size fuse.

if you have a power mirror like mine has then it will already be fused...just tap in on the mirror side of the fuse
