I currently have a bel 955 and it works great. I am a speedy driver and am thinking about getting a escort 8500 x50. should i get it? is it a good idea? let me know

You need to let us know more about your driving habits. Mostly city or highway? Do you want to know everything happening around you or do you want a quiet detector? Do you usually drive the same routes or do you go out of town a lot? Give as much information as possible.

X2, but preformace wise they're pretty much the same.

i drive in the suburbs a little bit but i do a lot of highway driving also. and yes i would like to know everything that is happening around me. I dont go out of town a lot but i do drive A LOT and FAR to see my buddies and girlfriend

Sounds like you need a V1, it's all about situational awareness. (Arrows)

If you do a lot of highway driving and want to know everything that's going on around you, your only option is the V1 ($400). Between your Bel and the X50 they're pretty much the same regarding sensitivity. Features is where you should be looking regarding those two.

You just said it "955 works great" so why do you need another detector?

B/c the new has worn off.

I feel the same way. That's why I ended up with an 8500. Not even an X50.

Gonna try it out but I'm sure I'll end up giving it to the wife and sticking w/ the 955. I like the feature set a bit better but really, it's just frills. About the only thing an X50 will have on the 955 would be the ability to turn off bands and still run highway. Of course, if you get a lot of Ka falses, spec mode and or expert mode could help.
