hey fellas, new guy here. i really didn't know how to title the thread so i went with this lol. a few days back i read a thread where a user incoporated his radar into his BMWs OEM dash. anyone know if this can be pulled off in a 2007 Mustang as well?

It can be pulled off in any car but depending on your skill level, the nicer it'll turn out.

Well, if you were to trade that slow old Mustang in on a Corvette, you could have your radar detector display projected onto your windshield.

^ Whoa, the HUD-One is definitely cool! Why can't they do this for Escort products?

    ---

    Back to the OP:

Sure, anything is possible - but without the proper "pre-made" aftermarket interface, such as the StealthOne, you're going to have to get creative:

    http://www.radardetector.net/forums/...scort-nsx.html

And look at what brother REBinc has done for his modern-Goat:

    http://www.radardetector.net/forums/373683-post5.html

    ^ Which incorporates both a V1 and a SR7.

Also, note that our own professor Jim, jimbonzzz - has this nifty application, the Software One -> Jim Mitchell KC8UNJ - Radar Software

^ If you have a carputer installed, you could run this emulation program to incorporate the display of the V1 to the carputer, as well as log your data (akin to vehicle performance datalogging).

Other ways to integrate your countermeasures can be had through the SpeedCheetah offerings, such as the ActiveStealth system.

Do Escort products have a remote display port? Is there a document available that describes the protocol and interfacing?

    ^ And that's the problem, ain't it?

Also, there seems to be a perception that the V1 is "for the warrior," and as with many other things in autodom, it tends to draw out more aftermarket support.

Look at it this way - is a Toyota Camry or Honda Accord any worse of a car than the Subaru Legacy? But check out how much aftermarket support there is for the BL/BP chassis Legacy 2.5GT, and how much faster and more capable you can make it, for how little cost, versus the Camry or Accord.

I think there are more than just technical reasons involved, in the V1 having so much more support.

    /\ haha

but thats some pretty sick stuff. If I had some more money I would have made my detector pop out of the dash or pop out of the headliner and when I park or whatever I could push it back into the dash/close it and it would have an automatic off switch. I did it for my friend a few days ago. The sweetest install i've seen.
