Default Best detector for driving in the Dayton, OH area

I will be moving from central FL to the Dayton, OH area before the end of the year. I will only have $400 to spend. Which of the top 3 will be my best bang for the buck for this particular area taking falsing and sensitivity to what the LEOs locally use there? I know that everyone has their favorites that satisfy their own needs, but will one detector be any better than the others for that particular region? I don't have a front plate now but I know I will need one in OH. Other than Laser Shield for the front plate and Veil for the lights, what else can I do to the front of my white Camry until I save up more $ for Blinder? Thanks for your help.

You will need a bra to cut down on the reflection from the front of the car since it is white. I would say with the $400 limit and your looking at $90 for a can of Veil, and $30 for the Lasershield... You have about $280 left to spend on the RD. I would say look to see if you can snag an X50 for that... Veil is a must. In OH you will be seeing laser. If you are saying you have about $400 strictly for the RD alone then I would say get the king for laser detection and get the V1.

Thanks for the quick reply. I should have clarified that I can spend the $400 on the detector, and understand that the Veil & Laser Shield will cost extra. I just wanted to see if I should just go straight to V1 or would a Belescort work as well for this particular region and save me a little money to save up for a Blinder later. I just want my best bang for the buck now, knowing that I will eventually get better protection for laser in the near future. Thanks again.

I believe a bra is a waste of money two reasons. The first reason is that it cost $$$ for one which you could be putting towards a jammer .Second they look ugly on the front of your car.

V1 is the king of the road for your long trips. Especially if you're going to be in Ohio...you'll need the superior laser detection. Radar sensitivity is pretty close across the board between the Bel, X50 and V1. But V1's laser sensitivity is uncompromised. But I doubt you'd be dissapointed with any of the 3.

I made that exact move last November - lived in Orlando (Conway) and moved to the Dayton area.

I agree with everyone else - if you are buying something new and have the cash - get the V1, Veil and Laser Shield. Get a good jammer when you get the money (keep an eye out here for the tests they will be doing in a few days).

So far I have only seen laser on the highway here. I hear that they use only laser and vascar on the big highways around Dayton. Radar is used in the city and small local police departments. Some of the local police departments seems to love their radar.

It's a lot worse in Orlando. Great place to visit - would NEVER want to live there again. 15 years was about 14 years too many.

Bearcat- I'm not really moving by choice. We have to move to help out with my wife's family. I lived in that area when I was stationed at Wright Patterson AFB in Fairborn and moved as soon as I was discharged.

Ohiocobra-It is bad in the Orlando area, but we have season passes to most of the theme parks and my kids love being able to go whenever we want to. I'd rather take the chance of getting hit by hurricanes than having to shovel and drive through snow for a couple of months. Having grown up in FL, I can't stand the cold.
