Default Sterile cockpits and why they're important

Went to Fry's electronics over lunch to see if they had any camera mounts. I've been hanging "around" the PSL with the new Goat until I get more familiar with it's handling.

Today I was listening to System of a Down "ADD" at full volume. Suddenly I look over and spot a Harris County Sheriff deputy on the frontage road, look down and see full Ka 35.500 alert on the SR7. I have no idea how long the alert was because the music completely drowned it out. And I have an external speaker installed!

I guess the LEO liked your choice in music huh?

I have had alerts be drowned out by music, that is why I am so glad CB radio's have such loud speakers.

I'd be comfortable with my pro78 on mute after sunset. Flashing LEDs for the win! Volume 8/8 just cuts it when I have my top down and music blasting.

That's really strange, I'm deaf and I always hear the V1's alerts if I have it turned up...even if I have my metal playing quite loudly (and my Monsoon Audio system goes more than loud enough). Is the SR7 significantly quieter?

Come to think of it, you have a V1...why wasn't it in the car?

Yeah, it should be plenty loud enough. I'll hear it even with the music is on but it doesn't snap my attention.

No V1 this week because the SR7 was such a pain in the a$$ to install I ran out of time to setup the hardwire for the V1 and scanner. So, I'm SR7 only this week.

I'm curious to know if you gave the SR7 a clear field of view after what we learned last weekend about the 9500ci. I was wondering if you would pick up some Ka band sensitivity with a different mounting location with no obstructions.

Anyone caught listening to SOAD gets tickets, even if I have to make up probable cause.

In installed the SR7 radar horn behind the front grill. So far it seems to be detecting as well as the C6. I'll know better after the V1 goes on-line.

It seems to me that only Ka band is affected by mounting the radar antenna behind the front grill for my 9500ci, especially 35.5Ka.

In the SR7 the radar head is the little thing with the laser detector as well, right? Looks like a ZR3 head?
