If the plastic isn't thicker than 1/4" then you should be okay with maybe only a very slight loss in sensitivity. If the grille has a metallic coating on it then you will have an obvious loss in sensitivity.

Well, it's "honeycombed" with holes but I would estimate the grill thickness is at least 1/4". Not sure if the paint used to highlight the grill is metallic or not. It appears to be silver but hard to tell whether it's metallic or not.

Yeah, I thought that the grille looked like it had some sort of metallic paint or possibly an aluminized mylar coating on it. If it looks metallic then for sure there is some type of metal film or metal oxide in the paint. Does the grille pop out easily? If so, then you could do some road tests both with and without the grille in place.

My grill is also plastic. After what I saw last weekend and this weekend, I wouldn't be confident of anything in front of the radar antenna. I mean, look for yourself. This mounting gave me very inconsistent 34.7Ka performance:

but this mounting gives me out of control 34.7Ka performance:

Come on guys, they're all machines built for a purpose.

However, djrams80. You need to detail your engine. It looks filthy
