    Default Warning - n00b

Hey guys, this is my first post over here and hopefully I wont sound too n00bish. I'm looking for my first RD and your suggestions would be helpful.

I'll be driving highway and city, a good mix of the two.
My main driving will be in/around Eugene Oregon and the SF Bay Area, sometimes going from one to the other.
I want a stealth set-up that is easily concealable.
For the hell of it lets say sky's the limit as far as price.

I'm looking at the 9500ci and would appreciate some comments on personal experience.

    Thanks a lot!

The 9500ci is the best RD ever. If you can spare that kind of cash, I highly recommend it. There are several of us using the 9500ci here and all of us, to a man, love it.

I have lots of videos showing how it performs on Youtube:

Yeah I'd go with the ci if money is not a problem.

OP: This is strictly an opinion. It is best in some categories and not in others, as every other RD.

(The comment's friendly DJ. When I just opened the thread up for the first time, and saw that that was the first thing posted to a self-title n00b, it might be taken the wrong way. )

The 9500ci and STi-R fit your stealth requirement nicely. Check out the videos and search the forums for backgrounds on each. Wish you luck on your purchase. Buy new!

Foolish I'm not trying to disrespect you at all but I do believe it is the best Detector out there. (Best radar detector)

It is the most obsolete detector out there. It is spectre immune, concealed, etc.

Its the only detector (series) that has gps. Plus you don't have to buy a Cheetah because it has red light camera detector too.

You don't have to send it to the manufacture for software updates.

More features than anything else. Locks out falses, etc.

And not to mention, If set up right it should have the best performance of any detector.

Watch this video and I think in terms of obsoleteness your mind will be changed. I wish they will come out with a Bel STI that has all of the features and more of the CI sometime. (But doesn't really make since since there the same company but you know what I mean.)

But soon the standard will be GPS and I think in the next 2 years there will be so much advances in countermeasures it will be unbelievable

I respect your opinion. Rhetorical, but what's this "best" word everyone is throwing around mean?

Well being that djrams80 was at the GOL 08 tests, I would automatically assume he seen the tests and knows the results, therefore I would probably go for the 9500ci if money is not a factor. The only problem is the laser jammer that comes with it is very mediocre .

    (I respect yours too btw)

But being serious I think it means that really its the most technological advanced detector out. Yes it has as good performance as any other detector but I think that is what it really means.

But think about it, When somebody posts a thread asking whats the right detector for me, what do we ask them:

What state do you live in (to see if they need to be immune to spectre)
-9500ci and STI are the only choices here

What type of area do you live in (If he lives where theres a lot of falses then he needs a quite detector)
-9500 have truelock and the V1 has arrows, the best countermeasures you can have to determine if its a false

What type of area do you live in (Also, if he lives in very rural areas where theres not a lot of reflective things like tree's, hills, etc. then he needs a very well performing detector)
-The best performing detectors really imo are V1, STI, and 9500's

Does he live where there are alot of red light cameras (to see if he needs something that could alert him of one ahead)
-The 9500 has gps red light cameras already built into the detector and if not then he needs to invest in something like a cheetah

Driving habits (does he speed excessivley, then he needs a very good performing detector)
-Then he needs a very good performing detector agian

Does he travel often through rd illegal states (does he go through like VA, canada, etc.)
-Then he needs a spectre immune detector

Does his state have laser and do they use it excessivly (you need a detector that can alert to laser very well or prevent you from getting hit with it)
-The only thing better than the V1's laser detection is having a detector that comes with a laser jammer (well for the price you could buy a v1 and the best performing laser jammer)

But ask yourself this: Look at everyone of those questions now ask yourself which detector really is the best choice. There's a few that have multible answers but the 9500ci is one of the choices in all of those questions
