    Default Heat reflective glass.

I was reading and noticed that my mustang 2004 gt. Has heat reflective glass. Does this mean that it has athermic coating? or what. If so is there a way around it?

Shouldn't be a problem, my car has that stuff too and I can pick up radar just as well as in the truck which has "normal" glass. What should be a concern is those electrically heated windshields (instaclear or whatever they call it)

    I undertand your concerns,

I have an Audi A8 and I think that my glass is athermic.
Just received a bill from the toll tag company because they cannot read my tag through the windshield...

I have a nice x50 that I wanted to reuse, but I have noticed that the detection did not work as well as in my previous car (Volvo s80).

Not sure how to deal with this at this point...

    Here's your solution!

Passport 9500ci Radar Detector & Laser Defense System - Escort Inc.

I agree that the 9500ci might be what I need, but if I understand correctly, this comes with laser jammer heads, and I really wanted to get the Laser Interceptor instead...
It seems to be a better product, and I cannot afford to buy a 9500ci if I am not going to use half of it...

Still not sure what to do... :-)

    Thanks,
    Arno

I will be adding the Laser Interceptor to my 9500ci setup next week. I plan to keep my ZR4s installed as a backup laser jammer system.

    ctf:

Escort SR7 Half the price of the CI and no shifters. Then you could still go with your LI.

I would have said STi-R too, but the consensus around here seems to be that the sensitivity on that unit creates an unbearable amount of falses. Plus, the SR7 is cheaper and should still be plenty sensitive for most people.

This sounds like a decent setup.

What is the consensus here, compared to the best radar detector?
As a reference, my 8500 X50 mounted high on the windshield has always been perfectly fine for me in the Volvo, and I do not think that I would need a better RD for K/KA band.

Is the SR7 a better RD than the X50?
The price is certainly more attractive than the 9500CI...

    Thank you,
    Arno
