    Default New guy on boards...

Hi all, I'm new to the boards here though I've been lurking for some time now doing loads of researching, reading and digesting of the reams of info out there on RD and LJ products. Among many sources I've been in contact with or visited, Radar Roy has helped me immensely and with whom I've learned a lot from over the last few weeks. Other favorite sites are GOL and Veil Guy's blogs.

I'm a gadget guy like Roy and undoubtedly many others here of course and I have budgeted $1000 for my needs which are many as I'm a bit of a lead foot My short list is below, any and all comments and suggestions are welcome and appreciated. I should note that I reside in Rapid City, SD where there is virtually no RLC enforcement that I'm aware of currently.

    Bel STi Driver
    Escort 9500ix
    Valentine 1
LI Dual Head (CPU Ver. 7.05, Truspeed Enabled)
    Blinder XTreme M25

I look forward to learning a lot from the experts here and very glad to be aboard, thanks everyone!

    A few of questions:

    1. How are the false alerts in your town, minimal or moderate?

    2. Do you drive only in town, or do you do mostly highway driving?

    3. Are you the kind of person that would want a quiet RD or the kind of person that wouldn't mind a few false alerts?

    4. Do you have passengers often or rarely in your car, females especially?

    5. Is your town small enough that the RLC locations would be easily memorized?

    6. Do you travel often to areas where RDs are illegal?

    7. Do you know what laser guns LEOs use on your driving routes?

    We'll start there.

    2. Do you drive only in town, or do you do mostly highway driving?
mostly in town driving with an occasional out of town trip...

    3. Are you the kind of person that would want a quiet RD or the kind of person that wouldn't mind a few false alerts?
    wouldn't really mind the falses

    4. Do you have passengers often or rarely in your car, females especially?
wifey mostly with occasionally kids to & from school...

    5. Is your town small enough that the RLC locations would be easily memorized?
little to no PE present, future who knows...

    6. Do you travel often to areas where RDs are illegal?
not really, only MN on way to WI if I did is all I can think of...

    7. Do you know what laser guns LEOs use on your driving routes?
Update...mostly rad, very little laser with largely K & Ka bands utilized, tactics...sit in open lot and shoot all day

    We'll start there.

Unless you are highly concerned about the future RLC expansion, I say V1 + Blinder if you want front and rear laser coverage or V1 + LI Dual if you only want front laser coverage.

I just want to warn you though, women tend to really hate false alerts all the time. Mine hated my SRX, hates my V1, likes my 9500ci and wants me to put the 9500ix in her car when it returns from Escort. All of this is based on the noise levels of each RD.

    Hey Guv(inator),

Now that you can't use your helicopter/jet to go visit your family (so you can save the planet), are now you thinking of going by fast limo (kinda like the NJ and NY guvs? I think if you use a CHP driver you probably don't need to worry about radar/laser. Just be sure to wear your seat belt.

Can you do anything about improving the CA radar/laser/speeding laws for the rest of us?

(As you can see the phony SD location is not fooling us for a minute).
