    Default MIRT Detection

I was out the other day with my 9500ix and almost got clobbered by an ambulance flying through an intersection. He had his lights and siren on but my windows were up and the music drowned out his siren until the last second.

If the Escort had Mirt detection it would probably have let me know earlier. This would be really handy for for EMS vehicles overtaking from the rear.

If you're driving around with your music so loud you can't hear sirens, how are you gonna hear your detector

My SR7 alerts to Ka when ever there is MIRT. I dont think it's suppose to do that. V1 stays silent.

Also, MIRT makes all opposing signals red, so you should see the red light.

I find that interesting how your SR7 alerts to ka whenever a Mirt is around. I have a Mirt but don't pull it out of the arsenal very often as it could stir up a lot of trouble if you know what I mean.

I thought MIRT was based on IR light?

    Don't the Cobras detect MIRT?

My X50 sometimes goes off with POP when ever the light changes from red to green.

i have to say all leos should run constant on because i almost hit a leo, because his lights were on but no sirens, and i couldnt see him because there was a truck on the other lane, and the leo was going to make a u turn. SO IF HE HAD BEEN RUNNIGN CONSTANT ON I WOULD OF KNOWN HE WAS THERE, so all you leos out there run constant on for saftey reasons.

Probably so. If you almost got clobbered by an ambulance, either you ran a red light, or else the ambulance simply didn't have a MIRT. Not all ambulances, or police cars, or fire trucks even have them. And not all of them are compatible with all systems.
