    Default Fuzzbuster - Alert Range

So I bought a vintage Fuzzbuster (circa early 80's) pic below for kicks. One of the 1st units I ever owned. Got it in the mail today and just for fun plugged it in and went to the grocery store. Now I know exactly where my X50 goes off when I turn into the parking lot - but I swear the Fuzzbuster picked up the signal about 10 car lengths before!!! I even went around again to check!

Now I am HOPING (surely) that this is because the X50 has 25 years better filtering, and thats why the alert from the doors is not picked up sooner. It freaked me out! Surely a 25 year old fuzzbuster would not beat the X50. I believe the grocery store band is K.

So help me calm down and feel better about my trusty old X50!

Please for the love of mankind, sell me the fuzzbuster, so I could put the v1 up on a shelf....

I don't know though, I would say because of the better filtering.... but did you have the 8500x50 on highway mode? if you did then I would kinda be at a loss.

I always keep the X50 on highway mode, all bands on, POP off. I had the X50 turned off during this "test" as to not have interference. The X50 from day one has alerted at the same spot (pretty much any recent detector I have had) so I dont think it has lost range or anything. Has to be filtering...I hope!

Its a known fact that the Fuzz Buster, which I ran when it was new, will pick up any radar at extreme range. I used to love mine, the huge box with the big bright light. LOL, tones,, lmao, we don't need no tones, the great big light will be enough.

I thought fuzzbusters only picked up x band in the 70's.. werent they before k band came on the scene? The only door openers I have noticed still on x-band are kmarts, all others I have encountered were on K.
